National building permit data API
Building permit data with the receipts.
PermitIntel is a building permit data API covering 42 states. Unlike the national aggregators, we publish how deep our coverage actually runs in every one of them. If a number is on this site, it came out of the database, not a pitch deck.
One dataset, eight ways to put it to work.
Start with the permit record, then layer on contractor intelligence, verification, monitoring, and bulk delivery. Every product runs on the same underlying data. Prefer a finished app over an API? The Supplier Portal is ready to sign into today.
Supplier Portal
Flagship appRank contractors by real permit activity, catch New Movers early, and send quote requests in one click. No code required.
Permits API
→Query permits across every covered state by address, contractor, geo, work type, and value.
Contractor Intelligence
→Every Florida contractor resolved to a DBPR license, ranked by 12-month permit activity.
Verification
→License, workers-comp insurance, and lead-safe certification status in one call.
Monitoring
→A signed webhook the moment a license lapses, insurance drops, or a new permit lands.
Supply Intelligence API
→The Supplier Portal's account scoring, available as an API for your own tooling.
Roof Intelligence
→Roof age and material derived from permit history, graded by fill rate per jurisdiction.
Bulk Data
→The full enriched dataset delivered to Snowflake, BigQuery, or Parquet on a cadence you set.
We publish our denominator.
Every state and every jurisdiction we cover has a public permit count, refreshed nightly from the live database. Pick any county portal and check us against it. Most data vendors would rather you didn't try that.
Counts as of August 28, 2026. Floor figures only.
How we grade coverage
Every state ships with a published tier. Aggregators imply uniform national quality. We don't. Here is exactly what each tier means.
Permits matched to state license board records. Every contractor returns a license number, contact, and insurance signals. The full product stack: verification, monitoring, and property-level intelligence.
Florida only, at launch.
Permits with contractor names and license numbers where the source provides them. License-board join in progress. API and bulk export available now.
Texas first. License-board join in progress.
Full permit records: address, type, value, dates, status. Contractor resolution is not live yet. API and bulk export ready.
Florida is the deep end.
26M+ Florida permits across at least 245jurisdictions, every one matched to a DBPR contractor license. Contact details, workers-comp coverage status, and EPA lead-safe certification come back in the same API call. That is the part the permit aggregators don't have.
National tools show you a thin slice of Florida. We don't. This is the reference implementation for what Tier 1 means.
Who buys permit data
Seven industries, one dataset. Every state gets the Permits API. Florida adds license-verified contractor contact data on top.

Home services & contractors
All statesA roof permit today means a solar, HVAC, or remodel conversation tomorrow. Watch permits hit addresses in your service area and get there before the competition does.
Construction tech & marketplaces
Tier 1Feed permit records into construction software, or onboard and re-verify contractors with one license-check primitive. Florida verification is live now; Tier 2 states follow.
Energy & climate
All statesSolar, HVAC, and EV-charger permit volumes show electrification demand county by county. Track adoption where it actually happens: at the permit desk.
Real estate & site selection
All statesPermit velocity is the earliest ground-truth signal of where a metro is actually growing. Score submarkets on filed construction, not on last year's census release.
Telecom & fiber
All statesPermits reveal trenching, tower work, and fiber build-out before it's announced. See where competitors are digging and where new rooftops will need service.
Insurers & lenders
Tier 1Continuously verify a contractor roster. Get a webhook the instant a DBPR license lapses or a workers-comp policy drops. Live now for Florida.
Why grades instead of promises.
Everyone who has bought permit data has been burned before. The pitch is always "50 states, billions of records." What you get is thin metro coverage with gaps, no contractor data, and a support ticket when you ask where Iowa is.
We do not do that. Every state gets a published tier, a public permit count, and an honest list of what is and is not available. The live coverage endpoint returns a machine-readable table. You can check it before you sign anything.
Florida is Tier 1 because we spent the time to build the full stack there. Texas is Tier 2 because the TDLR join is in progress. Every other state is Tier 3 until the data earns the upgrade. That is a discipline the national aggregators don't have, and it is the thing buyers actually want.
