How to read these numbers

Counts are floors, not completeness claims

Every figure is a count of records we've actually ingested and can return through the API. Not an estimate. Not a projection. A jurisdiction may have issued more permits than we hold, which is exactly why we show the number instead of a checkmark on a map.

Refreshed nightly

A nightly materialized-view refresh recounts the entire permits table, regenerates the stats behind this page, and triggers a site rebuild. The generated date in the hero is stamped by that job. If the date looks stale, something broke and you should tell us.

Records we hold but cannot place

2,473,713 records came from a one-time bulk historical load under bare place names rather than jurisdiction codes. The state stored on them is often wrong, and many are a second name for a jurisdiction already in these tables, so counting them would both misfile and double-count. They are reported as a per-state record count under each table and left out of every jurisdiction and permit total on this page. As they are mapped, they move into their jurisdiction and start counting.

What license-resolved means

A Florida permit is license-resolved when its contractor has been matched to a real DBPR license record: number, status, contact, insurance signals. It's the hardest column to fill and the one we're proudest of. Other states join this column as license-board matching ships.
